Editing

    Descript integration

Import transcripts, edits, and asset files from Descript projects.

Short answer. Bring Descript's edited transcript and exported audio into EpisodeOps without losing the chapter alignment or speaker labels.

Descript is the default audio editor for AI-first podcast teams. Its strength is the text-based editing experience: edit the transcript, the audio follows. EpisodeOps picks up where Descript stops — once you've cleaned the audio and finalized the transcript, EpisodeOps takes that as the input for show notes, chapters, social cuts, and distribution.

The integration preserves Descript's speaker labels, word-level timestamps, and any chapter markers you set inside Descript. You don't re-transcribe; you don't re-label speakers; the post-production hour you spent in Descript becomes the foundation for the rest of the release pack.

    How it works

    1. Export from Descript

In Descript, export the project as audio (WAV or MP3) and the transcript as JSON or VTT. Both come from the same project; speaker labels and word-level timing are preserved in the JSON.

    2. Upload to EpisodeOps

Drag both files into a new EpisodeOps episode. The system detects the Descript-format transcript and skips the AI transcription step — your edits are the source of truth.

    3. Generate the rest

EpisodeOps reads your edited transcript and generates show notes, chapter markers, social posts, and clips from it. Everything stays aligned to Descript's word-level timing.

    Use cases

Teams that already edit in Descript and want to ship faster

Stop hand-copying show notes from Descript's notes panel. EpisodeOps generates a publish-ready release pack from the Descript transcript in minutes.

    Multi-host shows with diarization needs

Descript's speaker labels survive the import; EpisodeOps respects them in chapters and social posts.

Producers who need the Descript transcript as the canonical version

Your edit decisions in Descript become the published transcript. No AI re-write phase to second-guess.

    Common questions

Do I have to use Descript Pro, or does Descript Free work?

Descript Free supports the exports we need (audio + transcript). Pro adds AI editing features that don't affect the integration.

Can EpisodeOps edit the audio file, like Descript does?

No. EpisodeOps is intentionally not an audio editor — that's Descript's job. We pick up after the edit is final.

What if I edit the transcript in EpisodeOps after importing from Descript?

Your edits in EpisodeOps don't propagate back to Descript. If you re-edit in Descript later and re-export, you'll replace the EpisodeOps transcript on next upload.
